The Vastu house is built to the owner’s vibration through precise mathematical formulas handed down from a 2000 year lineage of temple architects (sthapatis) from South India. They are structures crafted to uplift one’s experience and to bring material benefit over time. Because of the precision required, the specific windows of time in which the structure needs to be built and the attention required by a Vastu consultant, the cost of these structures is typically more that a standard house and also tends to take longer. We like to think of it like the architectural version of the “slow food” movement: the joy is in the process and the vibrance is palpable. Houses can be designed in any style as long as the measures and guidelines are implemented. Also, outbuildings such as greenhouses, garages, sheds and structures for animals are considered in the building process.
